The North Rural E-Consult Coalition is a collaborative effort among primary care providers, community organizations, medical groups, and payers. We support the use of electronic consult to increase access to specialty care.

Please join us for the January NREC Roundtable!

The North Rural E-Consult Coalition gathers participants on a monthly webinar to share e-consult best practices, use cases, communications materials, and important program updates. During this month’s roundtable on January 18  from 12-1 PM, we will share examples of best practices for gastroenterology (GI) e-consults using ConferMed. We encourage participant input and questions.

Clinic Spotlight

Each month, the NREC highlights a clinic that has prioritized e-consult as part of their practice. We thank El Dorado Community Health Center for their longstanding efforts to promote e-consult in their communities. Join us on January 18 (see above) to hear how clinics like EDCHC have integrated e-consult into its telehealth program.

What are your biggest needs for e-consult support?

Anthem Blue Cross, California Health & Wellness and Health Net would like to hear how the NREC can best support your organization in using e-consult to improve access to care. Please take a moment to complete this brief survey. Respondent names will be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift card to be presented at the January 18 roundtable!

E-Consult for Behavioral and Mental Health - Free CME!

One benefit of e-Consult is the educational value primary care providers find in participating. A goal of the NREC is to offer continuing medical education (CME) in e-Consult to support providers. On February 16, 2022 at 6 PM, we will offer a session on E-Consult for Behavioral and Mental Health, presented by faculty Petra Steinbuchel, MD, UCSF. Dr. Steinbuchel will present case examples of effective e-Consult communications in response to patients’ behavioral and mental health needs. Register here for this free session.

Efficacy of E-Consult to Cure Hepatitis C in Primary Care

A recent study by UC San Francisco providers outlines a safety net program with a large impact in expanding care to a largely homeless and low-income population. The study demonstrated that over a 31 month program, 242 patients were treated using e-consult who may not have otherwise been treated.
